Marvel and Sony Entertainment’s blockbuster superhero movie Spiderman: No Way Home will hit theatres in December, and fans can’t help but be stoked at every tiny reveal that drops about the upcoming film.

Already, it holds the record of the most viewed movie trailer, and the fact that New York City’s superhero will be joined by more than one of his arch-enemies this time around, makes it even the more exciting and worth all the hype.

That said, Marvel debuted a new teaser poster for the December 17 bound movie, and with noteworthy elements of reference, it’s now clearer which returning villains actually join Spidey in the forthcoming instalment of the Spiderman franchise.

According to the plot revealed by the official No Way Home trailer, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) burst open the multiverse, allowing villains like Green Goblin, Dr Octopus, and Sandman whom we had actually seen in a different Spiderman timeline anchored by Tobey Maguire, to cross into the present timeline and we’re yet to know what threats they may carry this time.

Below is the new Spiderman: No Way Home poster and a list of the villains that have been referenced.

Doctor Octopus

Doctor Octopus (played by Alfred Molina) has already turned up in the trailer, so his presence is very well known.

In the poster, Spidey is sitting on top of the carnage caused by his villains, with the huge metal arms of Doc Ock moving around him.

Green Goblin

In the trailers, a pumpkin bomb and evil cackle have been heard already, which can only mean one thing: the Green Goblin is back.

This has been confirmed in the poster, as a small figure flying his hovercraft is seen whizzing around the sky, likely ready to cause Spider-Man’s demise.

The laugh heard in the trailer is that of Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin, and the image on the poster looks similar to this incarnation of the villain.

Electro

Jamie Foxx’s presence in the movie has already been confirmed as he made his debut in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, where he played the villain Electro.

Electro’s lightning bolt can be seen across the sky in the poster, which seemingly confirms his presence in the movie once again.

Sandman

Though the Green Goblin was considered the iconic villain of the original Spider-Man trilogy from Sam Raimi, a new evil turned up in the third film: Sandman.

Played by Thomas Haden Church, Sandman was trying desperately to save his daughter, but turned to crime and villainy in the process.

There are sand particles alongside Electro’s lightning on the poster, suggesting he could be one of the villains set to return.

The Sinister Six

This foursome has given way to theories about The Sinister Six, a group of villains who fight Spider-Man.

We have seen one of these already: Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) who fought Spider-Man in Far From Home, only to reveal the hero’s identity as his final blow.

The last member of the Sinister Six is Kraven the Hunter, who has been confirmed to be entering Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, played by Aaron Taylor Johnson.

Perhaps he will make a quick debut here before he is seen on the big screen in his standalone movie, which is set for release in 2023.
