Nollywood veteran actor, Olu Jacobs celebrated his 80th birthday in grand style over the weekend.
Present at the celebration which took place at Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos were friends, family and colleagues of the movie icon.
This is Jacobs’ first public appearance since the Afriff awards in 2021, where he won Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dignitaries from all works of life turned up to celebrate the movie icon.
Nollywood stars included the likes of Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ego Boyo, Ini Edo, Sola Sobowale, Mercy Johnson-Okojie, Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Hilda Dokubo, Patience Ozokwo, Kunle Afolayan, Ngozi Nwosu, Victor Osuagwu and many others.
Media moguls, Mo Abudu and Betty Irabor alongside some top government dignitaries including the Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi and the former governor of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba were in attendance.
The veteran has been away from spotlight for a while over his ill health.
His wife and veteran actress, Ajoke Silva first revealed in a chat withe Jude Jideonwo that Jacobs was suffering from dementia.



“He is dealing with issues and it is been going on for a couple of years. It is known as dementia with lewy body. It is a degenerative disease that affects the brain and it is almost like a Parkinson type of disease, it affects the brain and affects the person,” she said at that time.
