Gangs of Lagos is an upcoming Nigerian feature film written and directed by fast rising Nigerian director Jade Osiberu (Gidi Up). Just like it’s title suggests, it is set in the heart of Lagos and follows true life events.
Osiberu took to Instagram on Monday, June 21 to share behind the scene photos of Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Tobi Bakre, and singer/songwriter, Chike who also features in the film. In the caption, she highlighted how she was inspired to write Gangs of Lagos while on the production set for her fan favourite “Gidi Up” series.
“2016 I shot a scene from Gidi Up season 3 on a roof top in Isale Eko and I was inspired to write a film about a group of friends who grow up on the streets of Isale Eko. Fast forward 5 years and we’re standing on that very same roof top, shooting a scene with best friends Obalola (@tobibakre ), Gift (@adesuaetomi ) & Panama (@officialchike ) in Gangs of Lagos. Really grateful that I get to continue my on screen love afair with Lagos, the city we all share a love/hate relationship with but we all acknowledge, there’s no where in the world quite like Lagos!” she writes.
