A few days before American rapper Kendrick Lamar released his fifth studio album Mr Morale & The Big Steppers, he went back to his African roots, with a visit to Accra, Ghana.
Lamar’s travel to the motherland saw him connect with the locals, played football in Jamestown with a bunch of kids and witnessed some street art in the making, touring places like Ghana’s Virgil Abloh founded skate park.
On June 9, Spotify announced they will be releasing a coverage of Lamar’s time in Accra as a mini documentary titled A day in Accra, Ghana with Kendrick Lamar.
The short film is expected to premiere on the streaming platform from June 13.
Check out a trailer of the documentary below.
Following the prolific rapper’s latest project, his boyhood record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE) has now removed his name from their roaster. As earlier announced, Mr Morale & The Big Steppers is Kendrick’s last project with TDE, as he aims to become a fully independent musician.
