‘Stranger Things 4’ Is The Second Netflix Show Ever To Cross 1 Billion Viewing Hours

It’s the first English-language show on the streaming service to do so.

Stranger Things surpasses Squid Games' record

Netflix has revealed that the latest season of Stranger Things, the hit teen Sci-Fi/horror show, has crossed the 1 billion streaming hour mark. It’s only the second show to ever do so in the streaming service’s history, after Squid Games.

Squid Games is still holding onto the #1 spot of Netflix’s most-streamed show, but it’s impressive what Stranger Things 4 has managed to do in such a short time since its release. It helps that the show is beloved and a staple for Netflix, yet it’s worth admitting that Stranger Things’ latest milestone is a testament to its enduring storytelling consistency.

As of last Sunday, Stranger Things 4 has been watched for a cumulative 1.15 billion hours, putting it behind Squid Game‘s current total of 1.65 billion hours in its first 28 days of release. That said, there’s still time for Stranger Things 4 to rival and surpass Squid Game’s record by the end of July if it still remains as popular as it currently is.

Stranger Things 5 will be the show’s last season with the main cast. No official news yet on when it’ll be released or if the franchise will live on in a spin-off or via another form.
