Singer, songwriter Daniel Benson, popularly known as Buju has released a new 7-track Extended Play titled “Sorry I’m Late.”
Buju had earlier described the project in a previous interview, saying, “’Sorry I’m Late’ is what I define as serious. It’s a combination of all my emotions and a lot of the things I considered my reality and my story. I really wanted to blend it into a project that was gonna reflect how far I have come, what I have seen, how I’ve overcome and practically me.”
There are six solo songs on Buju’s “Sorry I’m Late,” with popular Highlife band The Cavemen making a guest appearance on the 5th track titled “Ogechukwu.”
Five producers, Timi jay (Tracks 1 & 2), Rexxie (Track 3), Denzl (Track 4), Steph (Tracks 5 & 7), Pertz (Tracks 6) contributed to the project.
Buju, who left Burna Boy’s On A Spaceship record label for TYE/Empire has had a stellar 2021, making impressive guest appearances on several hit songs, while masterminding a couple solo efforts that sit right there with the very best of the year.
His new 19-minute EP is a follow up to his debut EP, 2020’s collaborative effort with Trey Wavey and Andre Fazaz titled “24 Hours in Lagos City,”
