Tosin Igho is currently one of the leading movie directors in Nigeria’s movie industry, but that wasn’t always the case. In 2008, he was relatively unknown and had released a short film with a pretty impressive story titled The Suspicious Guy. After a career magnification that has seen him direct some of Nollywood’s recent hits like Seven and Nneka the Pretty Serpent, Igho is ready to take a trip down memory lane by expanding The Suspicious Guy into a feature film, this time going by the title Suspicion.
Igho announced the project via a video on social media, where he had this to say:
“This is a Tosin Igho film through and through. You are going to see how I want to tell stories, the way I like to tell stories and I’m just happy that this world, now allows me to be able to do this now.”
A social media post for the project read:
“From the brains behind Africa magic’s finest shows, Venge and the award-winning film, Seven. We are pleased to announce a new title, ‘Suspicion’.
“’Suspicion’ scours the lives of victims who are impacted by rit#als practices.
“It promises to be an action-packed film with a remarkable story and is cast with the best of Nollywood actors.”
The clip features veteran filmmakers Femi Odugbemi and Kingsley Ogoro, who will co-produce, and actors Omowunmi Dada, Stan Nze, Kalu Ikeagwu and Uzor Arukwe. Tosin Igho will write, direct, produce, and executively produce the film.
Production is ongoing in Lagos, Nigeria. No release date has been announced yet.
