Ted Lasso’s winning streak both on and off the pitch continues as EA Sports has announced that the bearded coach and the AFC Richmond team will be playable by gamers in the forthcoming FIFA 23.
EA Sports made the announcement on Wednesday alongside a trailer showing the fan favorite manager as well as other characters from the TV series including Coach Beard, Roy Kent, Sam Obisanya, Isaac McAdoo, Dani Rohas and Jamie Tart.
“In a short time and with limited prior experience, Ted Lasso has become a cultural phenomenon, bringing the passion of football and the power of belief to life for millions of fans across the globe,” said David Jackson, VP of Brand for EA Sports FIFA.
In the game, players will be able to select Ted Lasso as a manager in career mode. There’ll also be options to create their own manager, select a real-life manager to take control of AFC Richmond or even create a player to join the AFC Richmond squad in any league.

“Our cast and crew work tremendously hard on this show, and we are flattered that it resonates with so many folks. We look forward to our fans having the opportunity to play with , play as, and even play against their favorite AFC Richmond characters” he said.
Ted Lasso was first released in 2021. It follows an American college football coach hired to coach an English football team in an attempt by its owner to spite her ex-husband. Lasso tries to win over the skeptical English market with his folksy, optimistic demeanor while dealing with his inexperience in the sport. Since its premiere, Ted Lasso has picked up 32 awards from 121 nominations, including 7 Primetime Emmy Awards and 2 Golden Globes.
