Tems shined at the Global Citizen Festival over the weekend, performing her cover of Bob Marley’s No Woman No Cry which is one of the soundtracks for upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a sequel to Black Panther (2018).
A footage of Tems’ performance of the song revealed she did go hard, with her nearly flawless vocals inviting the crowd to chant along as she serenaded them. Tems’ cover of No Woman No Cry first debuted in the official Wakanda Forever trailer, where the record was blended with poignant scenes in tribute to late Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman.
Although the trailer then segued into the more customary Black Panther action sequences, it was the song and the introductory scenes that most fans sunk their teeth into.
Tems has enjoyed a remarkable meteoric rise across the globe. Her involvement in the multi-billion-dollar Marvel franchise adds yet another gigantic milestone into her arsenal of achievements. The full Wakanda Forever soundtrack will eventually be made available for streaming, and will feature her cover.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever releases in theatres on November 11 but first, watch Tems lights up the crowd with her cover of No Woman No Cry at the Global Citizen Festival.
