It’s just April, but Matt Reeves’ The Batman is arguably already one of the best movies to arrive this year. The ingenuity of the story transcends the realm of what’s typically obtainable from a comic book movie and has greatly appealed to non-comic book lovers, too. With the courts of public opinion and critical reception going for it, naturally, fans want more. At the ongoing CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, Warner Bros. has confirmed a sequel will be coming.
Matt Reeves broke the news, announcing his return to write and direct. Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, who both play Batman and Catwoman respectively, are also attached to return for the sequel.
The Batman follows Batman (Robert Pattinson), who has been fighting crime in Gotham City for two years, uncovering corruption while pursuing the Riddler (Paul Dano), a serial killer who targets Gotham’s elite. The Batman has grossed over $700 million at the box office and looks hopeful to hit record streaming numbers with now that it’s arrived on HBO Max.
According to chatter across social media, some of the possible villains from Batman’s rogue gallery fans would love to see include Scarecrow, Mr. Freeze, Hush, Poison Ivy, and Alberto Falcone, among others. Who Matt Reeves and Warner Bros. studio decide to finally use remains to be seen.
