Basketmouth’s Papa Benji is returning for another season in May. Media Rants learned this from the comedian’s Instagram post yesterday, April 11, where he said “PapaBenji Season 2 Is going to be 🔥🔥….I repeat…🔥🔥. May 2021.” As at the time of this publicaation, the post had garnered over 12,500 in one day, with plenty welcoming comments from fans.

The show follows the life of titular character, Papa Benji, an industrious Igbo man who started a pepper soup joint that is quickly becoming a hotspot for chillers.
It adopts a barbershop kind of style, only this time, it is centered in Papa Benji’s pepper soup joint and bar where different characters, friends, meet to enjoy pepper soup over banters, rants, and serious discussions.

We are not sure of the exact premier date or who might be returning for the Papa Benji Season 2 but, Season 1 features an incredibly rich cast including Basketmouth as Jiminus, Jemimah Osunde as Jiminus’ wife, Buchi, Sound Sultan, Broda Shaggi, Senator, Maleke, and many more.
The series also offers awesome music, with an entire album, Yabasi, featuring stellar artists like Phyno, Flavour, Ladipoe, Chike, Duncan Mighty, etc., dedicated to the score.
Each episode of Papa Benji lasts about 40 minutes and is free to watch on Basket’s Youtube channel.
If you haven’t seen the earlier episodes, and you are seeking a fresh local comedy series to watch, you have a chance now before Papa Benji Season 2 drops. If you’re a big fan of Flat Mates on African Magic, this is even more impressive and we cannot wait for what Season 2 will bring.
Looks like Basket has really got his hands full with exciting projects. Earlier last week, the comic icon teased fans with an upcoming music collaboration with last year’s BB Naija winner and rapper, Laycon, you can see the report here.
