Ahead of the theatrical release of historical epic film The Woman King, Sony Pictures has released a short clip to get movie fans enthused and Nigerians are loving it.
The 35-seconds clip which shows Nollywood’s very own Jimmy Odukoya engage in a fierce 1v1 battle with Viola Davis’ General Nanisca is being widely circulated by Nigeran movie lovers who can’t help but appreciate both the well-choreographed fight scene and the country’s representation in the much-anticipated movie.
Jimmy Odukoya known for starring in Nollywood films like The Bling Lagosians, Crazy Grannies, The Wait amongst others is set to portray the character “Oba” in the upcoming film.

The Woman King follows the story of all-female warriors group, The Agojie, who are sworn protectors of the kingdom Agojie in the 19th century. Led by General Nansica, they fight against an enemy bent on destroying their way of life. It stars award wining actress Viola Davis in the lead role with Thuso Mbedu, John Boyega, Lashana Lynch, Jimmy Odukoya amongst others in supporting roles.
The Woman King hits movie theatres on September 16.
