Our Nollywood throwback for this week is Tchidi Chikere’s 2007 blockbuster movie, Stronger than Pain.
The film was one of the biggest in its year of release, earning Nkem Owoh and Kate Henshaw the award for Best Actor and Actress in a Leading Role at the 2008 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).
The drama told the story of Ulanna, a battered husband whose pride and dignity had been taken away as a result of the love he had for his wife Ering. This love practically made him a weakling and an object of scorn in the village.
Stronger than Pain also featured other Nollywood favorites including Ebube Nwagbo who starred as Nkem Owoh’s sister, Ifeanyi Ikechukwu, Daniella Chioma Okeke, Matah Njubigbo and Pope Jnr Odowodo.
