In case you missed it, Tiwa Savage recently released a 5-track extended play (EP) featuring American musical heavyweights Nas and Brandy in respective songs. The EP is titled Water & Garri, and has been described by Savage as her “most spiritual journey through music so far”.
Water & Garri is a follow up to her fourth studio album Celia, as she continues to live up to the bidding of expanding her listening appeal since she landed a lucrative contract with Universal Records.
In a promotional interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Savage shared a few things about the EP, highlighting her long admiration for legendary American singer Brandy. In fact, she named Brandy her biggest idol and the reason she first wanted to be a singer.
“Brandy is literally the reason why I started singing, literally. As a kid, just listening to I Want To Be Down, every interview I’ve ever had, she’s my favorite, my all time, my mentor, everything. And I’ve been trying to work with her for years. It was a dream of mine.
“And when it happened this time, it’s not even just music, we connected like sisters. She’s someone that I speak to literally every other day. It’s beyond my expectation.”
Both artists eventually got to work together on Water & Garri, with the 41-year-old calling it a dream come true for her. The track is titled Somebody’s Son and is the 4th track of the EP.
