Trump the World: Trump to launch own social media platform

Former US President, Donald Trump will soon return to social media with “his own platform” according to one of his senior advisers. In January, Twitter permanently banned Trump from its platform, citing the risk of the US president using the site to incite further violence following the storming of Capitol Hill by a mob of his supporters after the US presidential election results were released.

Jason Miller, Trump’s senior adviser, told Fox News that Trump would be “returning to social media in probably about two or three months here, with his own platform”.

“I think this will be the hottest ticket in social media, it’s going to completely redefine the game, and everybody is going to be waiting and watching to see what exactly President Trump does, but it will be his own platform,” Miller said.

Miller declined to provide further details on the nature of the venture but said “there have been a lot of high-powered meetings at Mar-a-Lago” with “numerous companies”, referring to the ex-president’s Palm Beach resort.

The former president and billionaire remains a fan favourite amongst many Americans, especially white conservatives and Republican loyalists. He has been tipped by experts to remain the Republican Party’s presidential flag bearer for the next election.
