Tunde Kelani Snags Honorary Doctorate Degree

Tunde Kelani, one of Nigeria’s most notable filmmakers has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree by Leads City University.

Tunde Kelani, a filmmaker with a career spanning nearly four decades was awarded the Doctors of Letters honorary degree, one awarded to individuals with noticeable contributions to society.

The legendary filmmaker took to Instagram to appreciate the institution for the award, as well as everyone part of his journey. He shared a photo of himself in a graduation gown as he received the honors with the message;

“It is now on record that on the 12th day of the 12th month of the year 2022, I was awarded an honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) by Lead City University, Ibadan, one of the leading universities in Nigeria,” he wrote.

“I hereby thank my family and friends. associates, supporters, collaborators, benefactors and professional colleagues for being part of my journey. Your love, support and encouragement over the past few decades have finally paid off. I am grateful. God bless you all. Dr. TK.”

Tunde Kelani is best known for making movies promoting the country’s cultural heritage, movies like Maami, Saworoide, Oleku, and more recently, the biopic Ayinla.
