Fast rising Afrobeats singer Pheelz has been snapped up by global recording giant Warner Records. The massive achievement follows the success of his 2022 smash hit “Finesse (ft. Buju Bnxn).”

Released on March 3 2022, “Finesse” has surpassed 14 million views on Spotify and has become a slaphappy anthem, especially in Pheelz’s home country of Nigeria.

When Pheelz posted a snippet of the record on TikTok before it’s release, he inadvertently setup it up for burgeoning success, after the leak was met with countless reshares and anticipation for the full project.

In an interview we obtained from Billboard, Steve Carless, president of A&R Black Music and Associated Labels at Warner Records had this to say about Pheels:

“What was so compelling about Pheelz when we first met was his passion and affection for music and the Web3 space. He’s creating his own NFTs and graphic art, which aided in the launch and popularity of ‘Finesse.’ He has an incredible connection to the cultural creative network around the world as an established figure for so many years. Our focus is really about staying true to the diaspora and lifting this song from the ground as our season progresses.

Pheelz opened up on several subjects in the interview, including how he’s always felt like an artist despite breaking into music as a producer, and how he’s co-written songs with some of the artists he has worked with.

It’s been a remarkable journey for Pheelz and Afrobeats, as more and more acts continue to gain recognition from the outside world.

He also discussed which global superstar he would love to have on “Finesse,” mentioning the likes of American rappers Cardi B, Kanye West, Drake, and singer Rihanna.

Which global superstar would you love to see on a remix of “Finesse”?
