Watch AQ’s Tribute to #EndSARS Heroes In “Shoot The Messenger” Video

Several spearheads of the #EndSARS movement were namedropped in AQ’s song, while scenes from the Lekki Toll Gate combine to stoke the video’s significance ahead of the one year anniversary of the October 20 2020 tragedy.

On Tuesday October 20 2020, members of the Nigerian Army were alleged to have opened fire at peaceful #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, Lagos following cries of police brutality, inadequacy, and corruption. Ahead of the incident’s one year anniversary, rapper and singer AQ has released the visuals to his song Save The Messenger.

Earlier this year, AQ released his 7th studio album, GOLDEN. The album touched on many absorbing socio-political subjects familiar with Nigeria. But “Shoot The Messenger” outrightly focuses on the #EndSARS movement and its aftermath, with namedrops and references littered all over the song’s lyrics.

With Shoot The Messenger, AQ once again reaffirms his position as one of Nigeria’s most conscious-minded rappers.
