“Wahala for Who no Bow for Nigeria Oh!” – Burna Boy Previews New Music on Stage

Burna Boy previewed “Off Your Mic” in front of a 17K Stockholm crowd, in Sweden.

During a recent performance in Stockholm, the capital city of Sweden, Grammy award-winning Nigerian act, Burna Boy previewed a brand new song titled “Off Your Mic,” and we think it may be one of the records on his untitled forthcoming sixth studio album.

It’s not every Nigerian artist that can pull a crowd of about 17,000 people in Sweden, but it goes to show what two consecutive Grammy nominations, as well as a win can do to the resume of any artist.

Backed by his scintillating band, Burna serenaded the crowd with his live vocals, but it is the lyrics of the song that will excite most fans, especially Nigerians. As we’ve been made known, Burna does not shy away from using his music to touch on the political ills and shortcomings facing his country Nigeria, and Africa at large.

“Off Your Mic” references the ridiculous claim made by an accountant of a Nigerian agency that a snake had spiritually swallowed N36 million in 2018. The phrase has also become a popular street slang in Nigeria, ironically used to co-sign someone who’s saying the truth, especially when it affects the person using the slang.

For now, there’s no much information on Burna Boy’s sixth studio album, but it’s been rumoured to be titled “Outsider.” We’ll definitely have more details concerning the project in the coming days, but first, check out Burna previewing “Off Your Mic” in front of a 17k Stockholm crowd.
