Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson looks all set to make his DCEU debut as the classic DC comics villain (and sometimes anti-hero) Black Adam.
In the comics, Black Adam hails from the fictional North African nation Kahndaq, where he was imprisoned for 5,000 years. He gains superpowers from the same ancient wizard from whom Shazam scored his lightning powers. From the trailer, it looks like the movie will be adapting some of the character’s comic book origin, but there’s no mention of Shazam anywhere, so it remains to be seen just how much is adapted.
Also in the trailer is a better look at other classic DC comics characters including Aldis Hodge’s Hawkman, Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate, Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell’s Cyclone, and Sarah Shahi’s Adrianna Tomaz.
Black Adam arrives in cinemas around the world on October 2, 2022.
