Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul is the breakout comedy movie of the year. A fan-favourite at this year’s Sundance Film Festival starring Regina Hall and Sterling K. Brown, this film looks set to blow all our minds.
The comedy satire produced by the filmmaking duo Adamma and Adanne Ebo has released its first trailer ahead of its slated theatrical and streaming debut later this year. Also in the production seat are its lead stars Hall and Brown, as well as Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Nope). Additional producers include Rowan Riley, Amandla Crichlow, Kara Durrett, Jessamine Burgum, and Matthew Cooper.
Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul follows the aftermath of a huge scandal. Trinitie Childs (Reginal Hall), the first lady of a prominent Southern Baptist Mega Church, attempts to help her pastor-husband, Lee-Curtis Childs (Sterling K. Brown), rebuild their congregation.
In an exclusive interview with Variety, the Ebo sisters revealed that the film is inspired by their Southern Baptist upbringing and explores a “style of praise dance popular in some Black churches, where performers swap lyrical movement for miming and often wear mimes’ traditional white face makeup.”
Honk For Jesus. Save Your Soul is slated for a September 2, 2022 release date (cinema and Peacock streaming service).
