Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, formerly known as Kiss Daniel, now “Kizz Daniel”, is a Nigerian recording artist, performer and entertainer best known for his chart-topping single “Woju” and his critically acclaimed song, Yeba.
Recently, Kizz Daniel released a song titled ‘Fvck You’ which started a trend on social media. The “Fvck You Challenge” is basically an avenue to call out anyone for a misdeed or ill-treatment though done obviously without name calling. So you basically drop a subliminal and if the shoe fits, they receive your message.
In the original cover, there are claims that the Fly Boy Inc Chief was referring to Nigerian songstress Chidinma Ekile but that’s a story for another day. In truth, the cover was really decent with Kizz Daniel not holding back. Listen again to see if the shoe really fits.
A host of other artists hopped on the challenge and some of them absolutely owned it. Notable mentions MI, Vector, Ycee, Eva are some of the few that did justice to the challenge. Some only participated after persistence from their fans, others have used it as an avenue to express their perceived hatred for their co-stars.
Victoria Kimani, for instance, dropped her #FuckYouChallenge song and in her own cover, she threw shades at Tiwa Savage calling her ‘Grandma African bad girl’. She also went on to accuse YCee of stealing her song. Kimani claimed that the lyrics in YCee’s hit song ‘Juice’ were actually hers.
Now for situations like this, is there any way to know if there’s any truth in those words? Or is it just another case of jealousy? Or as Ycee said, people are using the challenge for “Free Promotion”. She has indeed come out to apologize, but then again, why lie in the first instance?
All in all, we think that Kizz Daniel’s #FvckYouChallenge might just be the most interesting musical challenge in Africa this year. What do you think?
