The slapping incident from last week’s Oscars continues to earn Will Smith unpleasant dividends.
The actor shocked the world when he walked up the live stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock in the face for making a bald joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, in front of millions of viewers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, streaming giant Netflix and powerhouse movie studio aren’t fans of what the actor did and have both moved to halt all Will Smith affiliated projects they currently have in the works.
After the success of Bad Boys For Life, which saw new life return to an otherwise thought fatigued franchise, Sony Pictures greenlit another sequel. But with these recent developments, the studio is looking to punish one-half of their lead for being a literal bad boy.
‘Fast and Loose’ would follow a criminal who loses his memory after an attack. Will Smith was to play the lead character for Netflix, but that, too, now looks to be a thing of the past.
In the aftermath of The Slap, Will Smith has publicly apologized to The Academy and Chris Rock and has resigned from his position as a voting member of The Academy.
