Biodun Stephen is making a great name for herself in Nollywood. So when a powerhouse like herself goes on social media to air how she feels beyond the light, camera, and adulation from fans, it may just be a signal of a more pressing problem.
The screenwriter, director, and producer recently posted on her Instagram handle some really eye-opening sentences, which look mostly directed at her colleagues in the movie industry.
“When you tell comedic stories, they complain…e no just make sense. When you tell juju stories; see how they are projecting us. When you tell romance stories, this love no dey realistic. When you tell dad human angle stories; Abeg nobody wan dey cry. When you tell stories to just entertain; which kain nanzenze be this; when you tell dramatic stories; too dry sef…” Stephen wrote.
“With the Nigeria audience, you can’t get it right, you cant win, so dear filmmaker or actor; put your best foot forward, and know with ya chest say you gave the film your all.
PS: This post, doesn’t glorify mediocrity. Put your best foot forward always.”

We aren’t sure what may have precipitated this outburst from the renowned filmmaker, but, truly, sometimes it’s best to get things like this off one’s chest; it’s a good reminder to fans that their faves, too, are also humans.
Biodun Stephen currently has two movies showing in cinemas across the country – Strangers and Wildflowers.
