2021 Award season is probably the longest there’s ever been, at least in recent times. After hosting a virtual show last year, the 2021 BET Awards will be held in front of a live audience. The 2021 BET Awards, presented by the Black Entertainment Television will celebrate African-Americans in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment in 2020. This year’s nominations were announced on Thursday, May 2021 via the network’s website and social media handles.

Burna Boy and Wizkid, alongside Tanzanian singer, Diamond Platnumz are nominated for the Best International Act award. The Nigerian singers won the award in 2018 and 2012 respectively and will be hoping to make it two from the category when the event goes down at the famous Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. However, Wizkid has another BET Award he won in 2020 via HER category for featuring in Beyonce’s Brown Skin Girls. American rappers, Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby dominate the 2021 BET Awards with 7 nominations each.

The 2021 BET Awards, slated to take place next month, Sunday, 27 June to be specific, will mark a huge night in the careers of many fan favourites including established and up-and-coming artists careers.
This year, the long social media rivalry between fans of Nigerian singers Wizkid and Burna Boy is set to get even hotter. However, Burna Boy fans may believe he has an edge given his recent international successes, and rightly so. Just two months after the 2021 BET Awards, the 29-year-old singer will be performing at the O2 Arena in London, his first time at the venue as confirmed by the show organisers via Twitter. He will be hoping to celebrate winning the award with his fans.
America’s hottest stars, Megan Thee Stallion and DaBaby, have the highest number of chances to walk away with the iconic three-As inspired trophy, each landing seven nominations. Drake and Cardi B aren’t too far behind, earning five nominations at 2021 BET Awards.
Anderson Paak, Bruno Mars, Chloe x Halle, and Chris Brown are slightly behind with four nominations each.
