Afrobeats icon Wizkid has picked up his first Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) diamond certification for his contributions to Canadian rapper Drake’s 2016 megahit One Dance.

The song released as part of Drizzy’s fourth studio album Views, featuring Wizkid & Kyla Reid, was reported on Friday, December 9 to have crossed the 10 million mark for total units sold in the USA.

One Dance was a major PR boost for Wizkid, as the song became an international hit, garnering over 2.4 billion streams on Spotify alone. It grew his Wiz’s profile massively, exposing his craft to an international audience.

Wizkid is now the first Nigerian artist to receive a RIAA diamond certification. He also holds the record for the highest certified African song in the history of the RIAA with his 2020 smash hit Essence feat Tems.
