The Wizkid FC is very much a Nigerian movement, but Wiz’s American fans are certainly giving them a good run for their money.

A new report reaching us about the sales of the idolo’s latest body of work, More Love, Less Ego, revealed the album sold over 13,000 units in its first week in the United States.

This feat makes it eligible to debut at No. 59 on the Billboard 200 Album chart, and in the process, becoming the second highest Afrobeats album to debut on the Billboard chart after Burna Boy’s sixth studio album Love, Damini debuted at No. 25 with 25,000 units sold in the first week.

Thanks to an innovative commercial roll out plan, MLLE is expected to sell 50,000 copies in the U.S. alone in less than 3 weeks. As well as a live rendition of the album on Apple Music Live, Wiz has already performed at New York’s Maddison Square Garden, and keeping his fifth studio album in the thick of conversation around music audiences.

Other Afrobeats albums to debut on the Billboard Album chart in 2022 include Fireboy’s Playboy, and Asake’s Mr. Money With the Vibe. Playboy debuted at number 129 after selling 9,000 copies in its first week while Mr. Money With the Vibe debuted at number 66 after selling 13,000 in its first week.
