Onyeka After narrowly missing out on the Best Global Music Performance award at the 2022 Grammy Awards for their globetrotting hit “Essence,” Wizkid and Tems have been nominated for the best R&B Song at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards.
Wizkid and Tems are joined by their Canadian collaborator, Justin Bieber, who joined them on the remix of “Essence.”
However, “Essence” remix faces faces fierce competition in the category with Silk Sonik, Doja Cat and The Weeknd, and Giveon all bagging nominations as well.

Of course “Essence” reached the “top 10” of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and is multi-platinum certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), after it sold millions of copies in the United States alone.
This nomination takes Wizkid’s Billboard Music Award nominations to 8, after previously winning it 3 times from 7 nominations.
He’s the Nigerian musician with the most nominations and wins at the Billboard Music Awards, although this would be his first nomination and potential win for his original work.
