Wizkid Wins 2nd NAACP Award

Nigerian International musician, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, alongside Beyonce, Saint Jhn and Blue-Ivy Carter is set to receive an NAACP Image Award for the Outstanding Music Video/Visual Album category courtesy of his feature on “Brown Skin Girl” from Beyounce’s “Lion King: The Gift” album. The NAACP Image Award is an annual awards ceremony presented by the U.S.-based National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People to honour outstanding performances in film, television, music, and literature.

NAACP took to twitter to announce the winners of this year’s edition of the award with the feat coming a few weeks after the Made in Lagos musician was awarded a Grammy for his featured work on the same project.

Earlier in 2020, at the 51st edition of the NACCP Image Awards, both artistes won the award for the “Outstanding duo/Group of collaboration” at the 2020 edition of the NAACP Image Awards.

The NAACP is clearly keeping the light shining on black people and not letting up on the #BlackExcellence. To mark this year’s celebration, they announced a full week-long virtual experience which kicked off March 22nd will run through March 27th. The entire event is virtual and will conclude with the legendary 52nd Annual NAACP Image Awards.

This year, the award show will commence with a virtual red carpet, curated conversation series, viewing of past performances and speeches, and an after-party celebration following the live show.
