Wizkid’s “Essence” Moves up 10 Places on Billboard HOT 100 Chart

Earlier this month, multiple-award winning Nigerian musician Wizkid reached a significant new height in his career when his song Essence became the first Nigerian original song to make the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  

Essence debuted in the chart on number 82 and has now climbed up 10 places to number 72 in little over 2 weeks. Essence was released in October 2020, and features starlet Tems. It is the 11th track on the Ojuelegba singer’s fourth studio album Made in Lagos.

The chart is currently topped by Permission to Dance, a song by Korean band BTS. PTD knocked off Olivia Rodrigo’s Good 4 U, while Stay by The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber which debuted newly on the chart in 3rd, maintained the position after 1 week. Check out the full BH100 chat here.
