Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 initialy greenlit after Wonder Woman 1984 no longer moving forward, described as ‘dead in its current incarnation’.
From small changes like going from ‘DC Extended Universe’ to just to ‘DC Universe’ to big ones like scrapping fully completed projects sacrificing millions, one thing’s for certain, the DC Rebirth is no joke.
In October, David Zaslav, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO hired the pair of James Gunn and Peter Safran to lead the DC revamp and as per several reports, they have been huddled down trying to come up with a 10 year plan for the new and improved DC Universe. Although very little is known about their plans for DC’s future, one thing we do know is Patty Jenkin’s Wonder Woman 3 is not in it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jenkins recently submitted her idea for the third installment of the Wonder Woman franchise co-written by Geoff Johns, and Gunn, Safran as well as Warner Bros. Pictures heads revealed to the filmmaker that her project did not fit into their soon to be revealed plans.
The news of the cancelation comes barely a day after Gal Gadot took to twitter to celebrate her casting anniversary in the role of the Amazonian warrior.
Scrapping Wonder Woman is only the first big change rumored to be taking effect in the upcoming DC rebirth as news is also swrling on Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman and Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam.
With the high level of uncertainty about DC’s future, all we can do is sit back, relax and watch these events unfold.
