A recent report by Pulse.ng has revealed that Zeb Ejiro’s Domitilla, a reboot of the 1996 movie by the same director, has begun filming. This update is coming almost two years after news of the reboot first broke out.
Omoni Oboli stars in the reboot and also serves as producer and creative director. She had this to say about the project:
“When I was a teenager, I auditioned for ‘Domitilla’ but I didn’t get any part; perhaps, I was too tiny. Today, I’m proud to be one of the stars, executive producers, producer and creative director of the sequel. It’s going to be a very exciting ride and I can’t wait.”
Domitilla is the latest Nollywood classic to follow in the current trend of reboots, remakes, and surprise sequels currently sweeping the industry. If the reboot turns out critically successful, it’ll follow an even smaller group that has turned out so. The reboot is co-produced by a trio comprising of FilmOne Entertainment, Zeb Ejiro Productions, and Omoni Oboli’s Dioni Vision.
The original Domitilla is a crime drama film that tells the story of a young Domitilla Junior, who gets into adventurous romantic escapades for survival. She and her gang of prostitute friends are unfortunately caught up in the mysterious death of a politician and must do everything possible to prove their innocence. Not much is known about the direction this reboot will take.
